13 So he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and take him.” And it was told him, saying, “Behold, he is in Dothan.” 14 He sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. 15 Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. // 2 Kings 6:13-17

“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them!” What an amazing truth! We tend to consider only the things we can see in front of us. We call these our present realities. The truth is that God is the overarching present reality in every situation! When we base our understanding of reality on what God tells us in His Word, we will be sure to see life the way He sees it. God’s angels are fighting behind the scenes as we pray. When we choose to see God as the reality rather than focusing on the visible circumstances, we believe God can heal our relationships even when it seems impossible, we believe God can provide miraculously as we honor Him with our tithes and offerings, we believe God can use us to tell others about Jesus even though we are shy, and on and on.

  • Pray and thank God that He is bigger than all our life situations!
  • Ask God to build in you a trust for Him.
  • Thank God that He is always working in our lives even when we cannot see it.
  • Talk to God about some of the difficult situations in your life and ask Him to win, for His glory.
  • Ask God to enable the Long-Range Planning Team to see God as the present reality as they seek His will for our future.
  • I look forward to seeing you in church this morning as we study this passage together!
