1 Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. 2 The priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house. 3 All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the Lord upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the Lord, saying, “Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is everlasting.” // 2 Chronicles 7:1-3

After God led Solomon through the massive project of building the temple in Jerusalem, Solomon and Israel gathered to dedicate it to the Lord. In answer to their prayers, the Spirit of God descended on the temple, and His presence was so tangibly thick that the priests couldn’t even enter! In verse three, the people responded by giving glory to God. The building, even in the Old Testament, was about God more than the structure. God leads us to provide the necessary space for people to come and worship Him, but the glory goes to God!

  • Pray and thank God that He hears the prayers of His people.
  • Ask God to show the Long-Range Planning Team exactly how He wants us to provide a campus for people to come and learn about Jesus and to give praise to God.
  • Pray that when we gather for worship on Sundays, the Spirit of God will be powerfully present!
  • Pray that all we do as individuals and as a church will give glory to God.
