To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.” // Psalm 25:1-5

What a beautiful Psalm! We are allowed to look into the heart of David as he pours out his prayer to the Lord. He exemplifies for us the truth that we can and should tell God anything and everything. If there is one person in all the world with whom we can be brutally honest, it is our loving God! In verse three, he mentions “waiting” on the Lord. This kind of waiting is not passive; it is very active. It is pursuing the Lord and looking intently to Him for what He will do next. We do this primarily through Bible reading and prayer. If we do, He will lead us and guide us, and we will be in a very secure place.

  • Pray and thank God for saving you through the Cross and Resurrection (if you don’t know for sure, let’s talk!).
  • Ask God to grow you in your ability to pour out your heart to Him.
  • Ask God to grow in you a desire to “wait” on Him by pursuing Him daily and throughout the day.
  • Ask God to lead our Long-Range Planning Team to “wait” on Him and that He will lead them into His perfect plans.
  • As Easter approaches, ask God to begin stirring the hearts of those who don’t know Him and those who are not in church to attend Easter worship at FBC Mandeville or another Bible-teaching church.
